Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I know if my child or adolescent needs therapy?
It is normal for young people to experience ups and downs, but you might consider therapy if you notice persistent problematic changes in their mood, behavior, sleep patterns, or academic performance. Social withdrawal or increased conflict at home are also clear signals. We provide a warm, supportive space to explore these concerns and determine if professional guidance would be beneficial.
Is therapy confidential for my adolescent or emerging adult?
Confidentiality is the cornerstone of a trusting therapeutic relationship, especially for teens and young adults. While information shared is private, we establish clear expectations from the start: if there is a concern regarding safety, parents will be contacted immediately. For non-safety issues, we encourage and facilitate open communication between the client and their family as part of the therapy process.
How often will we meet, and how long does treatment last?
Consistency is key to growth. We typically recommend weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a strong working relationship. The duration of therapy varies significantly depending on the goals and the needs of the individual. Some find short-term, skill-based focus effective, while others benefit from longer-term support as they navigate more challenging transitions.
Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?
We offer both in-person and telehealth therapy for clients in New York.
Do you accept insurance?
